The Yorkville Apartment is easily our most colorful project.

In the style of California Eclectic, what this 380 square foot space lacks in size, it makes up for in style. The bedroom features a minimal platform bed with reclaimed wood top stools and a Mid-Century style side table. We particularly love the single-bulb pendant light that swags down over the exposed brick. The soft white drapes make the room feel extra cozy.

The living room is a bit tight, so we opted for some small nesting coffee tables to keep the furniture footprint small. A vintage newspaper rack is the perfect place to store hats and gloves, while some small hooks add a place to keep keys. We hung larger hats on the wall, which double both as storage and decoration. The flat-weave kilim rug brings a major pop of color.

Since we couldn't hardwire a pendant light above the stone top dining table, we opted for a renter friendly, plug-in option. Some classic Thonet bistro chairs are set around the table, with the wood top stools providing additional seating as needed. Wall hooks are placed behind the front door in lieu of a coat closet.

We were thrilled to have the opportunity to renovate the kitchen, opting for white shaker-panel cabinet fronts and matte black utility cabinet pulls. We opted for absolute black granite counter tops which are extra durable, and added the timeless white square tile backsplash. A freestanding butcher block island provides additional counter space and storage.

The home office optimizes a small corner in the bedroom by using a wall-hung desk to maximize space. We riffed off the vibe of the existing French bedroom door by adding wooden shelves with iron brackets. We had the opportunity to replace the existing door hardware throughout the apartment to transitional levers in matte black. The super soft linen bedding sure makes it hard to get up in the morning.
