UPTOWN /// THREE BEDROOM
Clean lines with a mix of eclectic pieces make this three bed apartment a warm and inviting home. Using our usual approach of high/low finds, we combed some big box stores for their more interesting items, while always tapping our favorite vintage vendors for some punches of old school spirit.
LIVING ROOM
A CB2 sofa mixes with Restoration Hardware and Room & Board pillows in solid tones and soft textures, creating the perfect place to cozy up for a night of Netflix binge watching. Vintage fur top stools mix with a wood root cube side table and sleek black leather safari chairs to provide additional seating atop a durable yet simple jute rug. The gallery wall steals focus, combining pieces new and old.
DINING ROOM
The dining area features a swagged drop pendant, the gold wash creating a warm glowing light over the walnut trestle kitchen table. An aerial photograph mimics the palette of the classic Hoffman cane dining chairs, while a George Nelson-style bench divides the space without cutting off the open floor plan. Sara Paloma ceramic vessels are centered on the table.
PRIMARY BEDROOM
Being on the fourth floor surrounded by brownstones, light floods the apartment. We looked to Restoration Hardware for window treatments and drapery accessories. The master bedroom features a dark mink linen, the perfect complement to a simple yet serene space. The poster bed frames the room, a nod to the black casement windows.
Oversized plug-in sconces make a bold statement while remaining renter-friendly. The Mid Century tambour cabinet adds warmth and texture while also providing functionality. Found favorites include ceramic smalls and a vintage French glass filled with willow branches atop an African stool.
PRIMARY BATHROOM
Broken joint marble flooring complements the Calacatta marble tile walls, each piece of which was hand-selected and dry-laid to crate the feeling of large slabs. Floating walnut vanities are topped with white Caeserstone, nearly impervious to spills and perfect for renters. The natural oak shelving provides additional space for necessities.
GUEST BEDROOM
A simple upholstered queen bed sets the backdrop for bold textiles - a Kilim rug and mix of striped accent pillows.
A large abstract Australian aboriginal art piece (say that three times fast) creates a focal point, adding a pop of color to balance out the white linen drapes. Simple tables and wall-hung sconces hug each bedside.
SECONDARY BATH
Classic gloss white subway tile creates a timeless look. Floors feature Carrera marble hex, and a Waterworks cast iron tub is set within a Gioia marble front.
Woven baskets provide storage together with the floating walnut vanity. The overall tone is bright and clean, the perfect bathroom for children and guests.
KID’S ROOM
The most fun we had on the project was creating the kid’s bedroom. Double doors open to a large closet, while two big windows fill the room with light. A pin-striped semi-flushmount feels both classic and contemporary, while baskets provide additional storage - a great place to keep toys and stuffies.
A Schoolhouse Electric floor lamp sits behind the cozy sling chair. A few added bookshelves make for the perfect reading nook.
Vintage smalls mix with toys and books. The addition of a bunny lamp makes for a great nightlight and bedside friend.
